The overall aim of the Pavilion is to make the public aware
of the questions surrounding the future of the planet and to
open up the prospect of sustainable development.
Designing the scenario for the synopsis of the contents of
the PALAIS DE L'EQUILIBRE was defined by the team from the
CITE des SCIENCES et de L'INDUSTRIE de la VILLETTE.
In analysing the principles set out, Groupe Eca2, commissioned to carry out the
production of the scenography, wishes therefore to summarise the message
to be retained by the public on leaving the PALAIS de L'EQUILIBRE, that is:
Sustainable development
is: To choose, now together.
The specifics of the measures set out the question of development
as a game with global stakes and shows the interactions between
its local, various, complex and global dimensions.
The visit takes place in several stages whereby one is able to
pass from emotions to understanding. These are:
- Space 1 - Awareness
This has the aim of awakening peoples' consciences to the
problems of the
development of the planet.
In terms of the show, from a semi-sphere hooked to the ceiling,
a dramatic vision unfolds that produces and links the great
problems facing this small planet. These images illustrate
the ecological, economic and social problems to which sustainable
development is attempting to respond.
- Space 2 -Responsibility
This space has the aim of showing that the solutions are to
be found in the
sustainable development of the planet.
Attractive and enticing images will be used to make a counterpart
to the 'Awareness' space and evoke the positive side of the
solutions proposed by sustainable development.
The show is organised conceptually in 3 parts that correspond
to 3 key words: complexity, diversity, globalise. It is organised
in the central semi-sphere
placed on the ground, and on the screens arranged on the wall
surrounding this space.
- Space 3- Action
This space has the aim of returning to what is happening here
and now on a daily basis since it is firstly in our familiar
environment that each of us can make the link between theory
and practise as well as applying the famous maxim of sustainable
development: 'act locally, think globally'.
There is then a view of the Neûchatel countryside seen
from the
PALAIS DE L'EQUILIBRE.
The long descent that leads to the exit is a return to the
ordinary for everyone.
The gaze will be directed through the open windows to the countryside
and the thoughts aroused by the explanatory panoramas.
