After having submitted several applications for obtaining the building of the Palais de L’Equilibre, the Federal Council represented by his president, Mr. Pascal COUCHEPIN, decided to grant the Palais de l’Equilibre to the CERN (European Center for Nuclear Research). The decision was taken on June 4th 2003.

The Palais de l’Equilibre was taken down by the Swiss Army engineering troops under continuous supervision of Charpente Concept.
The different elements of the Palais de l’Equilibre are stored on the Place d’Arme in Biere.

The rebuilding work will start in January 2004 and the Palais de l’Equilibre will be reassembled for the CERN’s 50 th Anniversary Celebrations which will be held from October 16th, 2004 to October 19th, 2004 in the presence of several foreign Heads of States as well as the International Scientific Community.

The Palais de l’Equilibre will be renamed the « Innovation and Science Globe ». From 2005 onwards, it will become the new laboratory Exhibition Center within the framework of the LHC Control Center.
